The end is just the beginning!

Finally, after nearly eighteen months of research and writing, no less than four trips to West Virginia to interview individuals, and countless phone conversations, the third book in my “Remembering Not to Forget” series is done. However, that’s only the start to a long process.

The next step involves emailing the book to my publisher, him formatting the book, and then him emailing the book back to me for any corrections, deletions, or changes with spacing, wording, etc. It’s during this second step that I’ll have one last chance to verify that dates are accurate, names of individuals and places are spelled correctly, and there are no “glaring” mistakes. At the same time, I will go about choosing what will appear on the front and back of the book’s cover. This second step is not as easy as it seems and is the most time consuming! All told, this back-and-forth thing may take six to eight weeks.

After all this, I email the manuscript back to him so he can make changes. Once completed, I like to look at the book one last time. As the old saying goes, “Say it, forget it…write it, regret it!”

The last step in the publication process involves getting the book to the printer which, again, may take a few weeks depending on the volume of work the printer has before them. Subsequently, I do not anticipate the book hitting the market until mid-to-late October. Sorry! However, keep coming back to my website, and I’ll let you know if the book is coming out earlier.
